Front Cover Idea's

This is my first draft of a front cover, I positioned the masthead at the top because I wanted the name of the magazine (Definition ROCK) to be behind whatever image I used as my front cover. Also because I wanted the title to be main attraction and the thing that you notice on a magazine, I placed the banner at the bottom of the magazine so it wouldn't draw any attention away from the title. I wanted the band name to be on top of the image and in the centre of the page and to be a fairly big font size to draw your attention to the band, and I positioned the cover lines so they were near the top and visible to persuade you to buy the magazine. A lot of Kerrang magazines put their images at the bottom of the page and I like how they are all next to each other and not all over the place.

This is my second draft for a font cover this one isn't that different from my first one as things are mainly the same but positioned differently, the masthead is positioned in the same place and in the same way. But I placed the images so that they were all in line together, but the cover lines were under each image, which is probably better as you know what the images are about. However I do think this draft looks neater but I don't like how there is less room for a wider photo and it isn't as striking as the first draft. Also again I placed the banner at the bottom for the same reasons, because I think it is too distracting at the top of the page.

I have decided that for my final front cover I have chosen the first draft, mainly because it looks like a rock magazine and I can picture how everything would be laid out. It also seems more out there and would come across as a more striking magazine than my second draft, which is what I want. I really want the reader to notice it more than any other music magazine.
